    About Greg Gerkens

    Greg Gerkens holds a master of science in literacy education from Long Island University as well as certificates of advanced study from both the College of Saint Rose and Molloy College. He most recently applied his qualifications as an assistant principal in a special education program of Eastern Suffolk BOCES, a regional educational cooperative. Greg Gerkens' work centered on ninth through 12th grade students with significant behavior management needs.

    Greg Gerkens' professional commitment to special education extends back to 2003, when he took on his first teaching role as an assistant in a special education classroom in New York's Sachem Central School District. He transitioned into a more permanent role within the district the following year, when he became a special education teacher at the high school level.

    In 2008, the Greg Gerkens accepted a position as a special education science teacher in the Wyandanch Union Free School District. Concurrent to his work in this capacity, he completed an administrative internship and served as coordinator for the district's Institute for Student Achievement Extended Day program and the Saturday Academy Credit Recovery program.
